You decide and fulfill the reward yourself (a gift card, store credit, swag) using the identifiers you collect here. Pillow doesn’t process or pay out rewards.
Set up a reward
Configure rewards in the Study Builder when you create or edit a study. After a study is live, you can review the configuration read-only on the Reward tab in study settings.1
Enable the reward
In the builder, open the reward settings and turn on Enable reward.
2
Choose how it's given
Set Attribution to decide who receives the reward (see below).
3
Describe what you're offering
Enter the reward in What you’re offering. The agent uses this text verbatim, so write it the way you want participants to read it, for example
a 50€ Amazon gift card or a free t-shirt.4
Collect an identifier
Turn on Collect an identifier and pick what the agent asks for.
Choose how the reward is given
Attribution controls who gets rewarded:
Use a Draw when you want to cap cost (one $100 winner), and an Automatic reward when every completion should be rewarded (a discount code for all).
Guide the agent Optional
Use Agent instructions to tell the agent how to handle the reward. For example, “share voucher codeSUMMER15OFF at the end of the interview,” or private notes the agent should follow but never reveal to the participant.
Collect an identifier
So you can reach winners or send rewards, the agent asks each participant for one identifier at the end of the interview. In a video interview, a dedicated text field appears below that question. The camera and microphone turn off, and there is no recording button. Participants type their identifier and select Send at the bottom of the screen, or choose Prefer not to share. The identifier is saved in reward details; only an acknowledgment appears in the interview transcript.Download identifier outcomes
Identifier collection is processed independently from interview summaries, then listed on the Reward tab in study settings.- Open your study and go to Settings → Reward.
- Under Identifier collection, review the Collected, Not collected, and Failed totals.
- Click Download … responses as CSV to export the completed outcomes.
collection_status column has one of these values:
collected: The participant supplied an identifier. The identifier columns contain its type, value, and collection time.not_collected: Processing finished and no identifier was supplied. The identifier columns are blank.failed: Processing could not establish an outcome. The identifier columns are blank.
Collected identifiers are personal data, so handle the CSV in line with your privacy policy.
Draw your winners
When your reward uses a Draw, pick your winners from the same section. The button names how many you set, and the result lists each winner with a link to their interview. Every distinct identifier gets one entry, so odds stay equal however many interviews someone completed. Copy the winners before closing the dialog, since each run produces a fresh, independent draw. What’s next
