The outreach message is the first thing users see when they open your study link. Keep it short, personal, and end with a question.

Examples

Good:
Hey! I’m Sarah from Acme. We’re improving our checkout flow and would love your input. Have you made a purchase recently?
Hi there! {{agent_name}} here from {{org_public_name}}. Quick question: what’s been your experience with our mobile app lately?
What to avoid:
Hi, my name is Sarah and I’m a researcher at Acme Inc. We’re conducting a study on user behavior in our checkout funnel as part of our Q3 product roadmap. Your feedback would be incredibly valuable to help us understand pain points. Would you be willing to participate? It should take about 5-10 minutes. We’d love to hear about your shopping habits, payment preferences, and any issues you’ve encountered.
This is too long, too formal, and asks multiple questions at once.

Set your agent name in the Agent configuration step. Set your organization name in Organization settings.

Auto-generate outreach

Pillow generates an outreach message automatically when you open the Outreach panel. It uses your study goals, agent profile, and company context, and matches your agent’s tone of voice. Click Regenerate to create a new version, or edit the message directly. Regenerating also re-translates all your existing languages.

Translations

English (US) is always present as your default outreach. Click Add language to add locales. Each new language is auto-translated instantly.
Your Researcher Agent conducts the entire conversation in the user’s detected language, not just the outreach.

Edit after launch

You can update your outreach from the study builder at any time. Open your study, click Outreach in the sidebar, and edit. Changes save automatically.
Changes apply to new conversations only. Users who already received the old message continue from where they started.
